Margaret Hiltenbrand - September 2026 Student of the Month

Margaret Hiltenbrand Named September Kiwanis Student of the Month

The Kiwanis Club of Coeur d’Alene was pleased to recognize Margaret Hiltenbrand, a senior at Lake City High School, as our September Student of the Month at our September 16 meeting.

Margaret has distinguished herself through an impressive combination of academics, extracurricular activities, community service, and leadership. She has a 4.4 cumulative weighted GPA and is currently ranked first in her class. This year she is taking five AP courses, building on a rigorous schedule of honors and AP classes throughout high school.

Outside the classroom, Margaret participates in varsity volleyball, basketball, and speech and debate. She serves as Vice Chair of the Coeur d’Alene School District Student Advisory Group and participates in Lake City’s Youth in Government and Harvard Model Congress delegations. She has also volunteered with several community organizations and programs, including the YES campaign, Red and Blue Foundation, LCHS Key Club, and the Youth Collective in conjunction with Boise State University.

After graduation, Margaret hopes to earn a bachelor’s degree in international relations at a college overseas, preferably in Spain. She then plans to attend law school with a focus on international and human rights law, with the long-term goal of working for an organization such as the United Nations, International Criminal Court, or International Court of Justice.

Margaret’s mother and father, Jody and Tom Hiltenbrand, joined us for the occasion. Tom, a firefighter and first responder, had just arrived at the meeting when he received a call to respond to an incident and had to leave. While he unfortunately missed the presentation, we were glad both of Margaret’s parents could be there to support her—even if Dad’s duty called!

Congratulations, Margaret! We’re proud to recognize an outstanding young person who is already demonstrating such a strong commitment to achievement, leadership, and service.
