For more than a century, the Kiwanis Club of Coeur d’Alene has been dedicated to one guiding purpose: serving the children of our community. Since our founding on June 16, 1922, Kiwanis members have invested their time, resources, and hearts into projects that strengthen families, support youth, and build a healthier future for North Idaho.
That commitment is visible not only in our programs, but in the lasting partnerships and community spaces that continue to benefit children today.
Serving Children First
Kiwanis is a global organization focused on improving the world one child and one community at a time, and that mission is lived out locally through hands-on service and sustained support.
Over the years, the Kiwanis Club of Coeur d’Alene has:
Provided thousands of children with books through our Head Start Reading Program, helping spark a lifelong love of reading.
Served nearly 10,000 meals to children and families through Kids Day in the Park, creating a day of fun, connection, and care.
Played a foundational role in the creation and ongoing support of the Children’s Village Crisis Nursery, ensuring a safe and nurturing place for children in times of need.
Our focus is not short-term charity, but long-term impact — helping children feel supported, encouraged, and valued.
Impact That Continues to Grow
Because the proceeds from the sale of some of our property along the Spokane River in 2000 were carefully invested, the Kiwanis Club of Coeur d’Alene is able to support nearly 50 nonprofit organizations and youth-focused initiatives each year, many of them centered on children’s health, education, safety, and development.
This financial stability allows our members to focus less on fundraising and more on what matters most:
Volunteering
Mentoring
Showing up when our community needs us
Our prudent stewardship of the property that is now Kiwanis Park stands as a reminder that thoughtful decisions made generations ago can still change lives today — and that service, when done with care and vision, truly lasts.
Be Part of the Next 100 Years
Kiwanis is more than a club — it’s a family of volunteers committed to making a difference. Whether through service projects, partnerships, or simply showing up for children in our community, we invite you to be part of what comes next.
Together, we are building a future where every child has the opportunity to thrive.
